Good quick read with pointers for building an online career

This advice can apply to anyone trying to build a personal brand online. Good advice about staying in your lane as you level up on the journey. One thing that was missing was hard numbers: at what point should you expect to make $25k a year? $50k? How much should you charge for a house party or gig?

Great Strategic Information

I enjoyed that there was a stage by stage step by step method to grow my career. I didn't have anything negative to say about this. Also join her webinars.

Valuable Music Career Resource

A reference book about building a musical career that is based on a good foundation and is authentic and sustainable for your own wellbeing. This book includes information on how to recognize signs of burn-out and overwhelm and how to avoid this situation by examining how you feel and which tasks to concentrate on during each stage. I especially liked the end sections that included a checklist that summarized each section and ways to use abundance thinking to create a meaningful audience experience and create further music opportunities. I would highly recommend this book.

Detailed blueprint for success that tells it like it is

There is no question that Bree Noble knows what she is talking about - an indie musician can definitely succeed, but there is work to be done. Bree details the necessary steps with her 5-stage blueprint, with all its positive and negative iterations. The most "negative" aspect being the time and continuous effort it takes, especially from the viewpoint of an eager and impatient young musician. There is no shortcut - unless you get discovered and promoted right away. Of course, there is that possibility, but don't count on it. My niche is in coaching young opera singers kickstart their career without an agent and I definitely recommend this book for these musicians. The layout is logical, as is the buildup in terms of usage of digital resources, social media, crowdfunding and the like. My only additional recommendation is to get physical help as early as you can possibly afford to - building a career all by yourself and having a life is more than a full-time job! Get the book, do the work and enjoy the ride!

Practical, clear advice

This is a quick read with a lot of very concrete, practical advice. Bree advocates for slow and steady growth as an artist, focusing in the early stages on building your fan base and developing your skill as an artist, rather than jumping to recording an album from the get-go. Her suggestions for what to focus on and when are sensible and make sure new artists don’t saddle themselves with a pile of debt and CDs they can’t sell. It all lays the groundwork so that artists have an audience ready and waiting to hear their music when it finally is time to record and promote that first album. What this book doesn’t do is go into artist development, or alternative ways to make money as a musician, like sync licensing. It is most helpful for singer-songwriters or bands/artists looking to build a following and are performing concerts and releasing recorded music.
